Carolinas AGC Names Drew Johnson into Hall of Fame

Mar 24, 2023

Drew Johnson, the Vice President of Operations for Branch in North Carolina, has been named as a Carolinas AGC (CAGC) Hall of Fame Honoree. This prestigious award is given to those who have made extraordinary contributions over their careers to the AGC, the construction industry, and their community.

Drew began his long commitment to the CAGC by joining the Roadway Subcommittee in 1989, on which he served until 2000. He has been a member of the Joint Cooperative Committee (with NCDOT) since 2000. He has also concurrently served and been instrumental on DBE, railroad, utilities, specifications, and design-build (D-B) subcommittees. As a (sub)committee member, he has helped shape transportation policy and processes for NCDOT and contractors, particularly those relating to Design-Build proposal requirements and standards.

Drew served as the 2009 CAGC Heavy-Highway Chair and was heavily involved in the joint CAGC/NCDOT Design-Build Committee from 2000 to 2016. He was also a part of the North Carolina Governor’s Workforce training board – a team of individuals dedicated to enhancing North Carolina’s workforce by supporting local workforce development boards statewide.

One of Drew’s most significant accomplishments was serving on the CAGC Labor Committee. As a member of this group, he partnered with NCDOT to resubmit changes to labor-wage rights under the Obama administration. While on the Labor Committee, he was instrumental in bringing together competing contractors to a common position and then successfully influencing the language of the legislation. He has also been a consistent CAGC Political Action Committee (PAC) contributor and is committed to its goal of improving the business environment for everyone in the construction industry.

“We at Branch were very fortunate to have Mr. Johnson join our team in early 2020 to help build and strengthen our presence in the North Carolina market. Through the challenges we faced during the pandemic, Drew was able to steadily assemble a core group of personnel with a wide variety of talents and skills that have been transformative to our operational division in the state. We look forward to many prosperous years to come under his leadership. It’s exciting to see Drew receive this honor, understanding the contributions he has made to the industry and knowing it is well deserved,” says Brian Evans, Senior Vice President of Operations.

Drew will be officially inducted and celebrated at the CAGC Summer Summit in Asheville, North Carolina this July. Please join us in congratulating him on his achievements.
