Sowers Promoted to Project Manager

Aug 8, 2018

It is with great pleasure we would like to announce Melissa Sowers’ promotion from Assistant Project Manager to Project Manager.

Melissa started her career at Branch Highways as an intern in the summer of 2008 on our Rt. 58 Hillsville Bypass Project.  She returned to work in our Estimating Department part-time during her Junior year at Virginia Tech as an intern in the Estimating Department.  Melissa began working full time in our Estimating Department in May 2010 upon graduation from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.  She then joined our Operations team in December of 2011 on our Rt. 58 Laurel Fork and Tri-County Connector Project.

Our confidence and trust in Melissa’s abilities have led to the assignments of finishing strong on our Rt. 58 PPTA project and successfully managing several projects including Greenfield Site Development in Botetourt County, Rt. 636 & Rt. 608 in Augusta County, Exit 150 in Botetourt County and the site grading package at the JMU Convocation Center. Most recently Melissa has been assigned as the Project Manager on the Jamestown Parkway project in North Carolina.

In addition to Melissa’s exemplary project performance, she has been involved in many “Special Projects”.  Some of which include involvement in The Branch Group’s long-range planning process (FMI/20D) and career fairs/recruiting from Virginia Tech.
