Since implementing this change, we have expanded the use of cellular modems in our dozers and rovers eliminating the need for several base stations within a project. This change gives us more flexibility when constructing large projects or building projects in remote locations, eliminating delays for service. This department will also expand our in-house modeling capabilities. The group will also focus on performing preconstruction topographic surveys, calibration/localization of all project sites, establishing grading control points (with leveled elevations), rough layout, performing internal QA/QC as-built drawings and determining criteria for when GPS support staffing is required at the project level.
Steve Bruns has been selected to lead the GPS/Survey Department and will be tasked with general oversight, group management, and making this transition to a central unit as smooth as possible. Eddy Wray will assist Steve with managing our GPS/Survey needs in the West and Nova regions. Our in-house modeling efforts within the group will be led by Jason Gordon, a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Virginia and North Carolina.
We are highly confident this newly centralized department, utilizing today’s technology will contribute to BUILDING LEGACIES FOR A THRIVING FUTURE.
