Branch Civil helped provide a safer journey across campus for students at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC.

Crews constructed a pedestrian tunnel under US Rt. 421, alleviating the need for students to cross the busy highway walking to and from classes, a PGA golf facility, and the football stadium.

Branch Civil closed traffic on Rt. 421 during excavation and installation of the nearly half-mile long tunnel and rerouted the existing waterline to avoid further excavation.  Crews then installed three mechanically stabilized earth walls, ramps, stairs, and handrails.

Work was completed by installing a center median and paving the final surface layer of asphalt.

Branch Civil saved the NC Department of Transportation and the University $45,000 by determining that temporary shoring needed to be installed early in the project.
