Branch Civil came in on the ground floor of this mega project in Northern Virginia, which allowed for participation in design review meetings and the opportunity to provide constructability analysis before work began on this complex undertaking.

Branch Civil was the prime contractor for this Design-Build Project extending the I-95 HOT/Express Lanes for an additional nine miles from Dumfries, VA to Garrisonville, VA.   Working on an accelerated timeline, Branch Civil crews constructed new bridges, widened existing bridges, built new High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes, and widened I-95 lanes in three locations to provide ingress and egress to the new HOT lanes.

Some of the most complicated work involved building a sound wall for nearly the entire length of the project, along with extensive erosion and sediment control in highly sensitive areas.  The project was accomplished on time and under budget.

The I-95/495 Express Lanes use state of the art technology, including dynamic tolling and mobile phone applications, to provide motorists with faster and more predictable travel options in the often-gridlocked Washington DC Beltway region.  Anyone can choose to use the HOT lanes, provided they pay a toll if they do not meet high occupancy standards.  The Express Lanes have greatly enhanced the quality of travel through the I-95 corridor.
