A scenic roadway in North Carolina’s mountain region is now safer and easier to travel after being widened to four lanes in a project managed by Branch Civil.

Mulberry Creek Road runs parallel to a protected trout stream for nearly two and a half miles in Caldwell County, NC, just south of Boone.  Widening this two-lane road to a four-lane road involved significant rock blasting, wet pipe installation and the laying of 7,500 tons of ABC road stone.  Erosion control was an important part of this project.

Once the paving was complete, the new four-lane road connected two major routes through the mountains – US Route 321 and US Route 221 – with US Route 90.
