The site of an old meat processing plant is getting a new life as a state-of-the-art warehousing and logistics facility in Portsmouth, VA.

Branch Civil provided site work for the new 200,000 square foot center owned by InterChange Development, a leader in Third Party Logistics along the east coast.

Working in partnership with General Contractor Nielsen Builders, Branch Civil prepared the site for construction.  This entailed moving 6800 cubic yards of earth and installing new water and sanitary lines, as well as storm, drains on the 12.5-acre site.  Branch Civil crews also reused approximately 15,000 tons of recycled concrete and asphalt in order to complete the job quickly and efficiently.

The Portsmouth Logistics Center is strategically located near three major marine terminals and sits inside the Hampton Roads beltway, which offers access without the restrictions of bridges and tunnels. The facility includes 20 drop trailer locations, 28 docks, and food-grade warehousing.

The project represents $5 million in new private investment for the City of Portsmouth.
