Branch Civil partnered with McKenzie Construction Corporation to revive a piece of land in Virginia Beach that for decades was deemed unsuitable for development.
Branch Civil crews provided the grade, drainage, utilities and paving to a 33-acre piece of land that had been the site of an old borrow pit filled in with unusable material. The vastly improved tract of land became the new home of Tidewater Auto Auction, also known as ABC Auto Auction.
Branch Civil provided water, sanitary and storm sewer for the site, along with 27 acres of new pavement and 6 acres of gravel parking. Early in the project, workers uncovered some design issues and teamed up with the owner and designer to solve the issues before they became problems. When given the opportunity to slow the pace of work due to the delay of permits for the building foundations, Branch Civil instead decided to accelerate the process to allow site preparation work to be completed before any building trades came on site.
The auction house is one of the largest in the southeast and is known for its vast inventory, great restaurant, and creative special events.
